In cooperation with the educational initiative Ferhat Unvar from Hanau, our university is offering an exciting, practice-oriented workshop led by experienced teams of two. Short theoretical inputs are combined with interactive, varied methods. The aim is to give participants space to reflect and develop a critical attitude.
The focus is on creating an open educational environment in which participants can contribute their own opinions and discuss them together. The thematic focus is on discrimination and racism, with a particular emphasis on the attack in Hanau and the perspectives of those affected.
Background: This workshop deals with the incidents of February 19, 2020 in Hanau, when nine people were murdered for racist motives. The focus is on the failure of the authorities before, during and after the night of the crime, as well as the social impact of the attack. The responsibility for appropriate remembrance and the ongoing resistance of those affected will also be discussed.
